I get a lot of questions about my workout routine, so I wanted to gather them all together in one spot for you. I’ve also been loving workout onesies lately, anyone else? I asked on stories if I should keep this one, I’m wearing in these photos and you guys did not let me down. Now I’m obsessed. I rounded up a few of my favorites incase you’re jumping on the onesie train too. You can also throw a sweater or crop tank over the onesie to switch up the look too (or try this wrap if you really want to feel like a ballerina). Let’s jump into a few questions I get a lot:
WHERE DO YOU BUY ALL YOUR BIKER SHORTS?
ARE YOU TRAINING FOR ANYTHING?
Well yes and no. David & I were supposed to do a triathlon in Mexico in April but sadly we just found out the other day that they canceled it! I am going to continue training sort of and hopefully find another to do. I know there are a lot of them but I really don’t want to swim in cold water haha which is why this one in Mexico was perfect! So we will see what happens!
I NEED A LONGER LEGGING, ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
The Lululemon Align leggings comes in 3 lengths and are the more comfortable legging (they feel like butter). They also are one of the most flattering legging I have found, holding you in, in all the right places. If you like texture I love these Strut This & IVL leggings are also some of my favorite! If you’re looking for a more inexpensive option, I love these from Amazon.
WHAT TIME DO YOU WAKE UP TO WORKOUT?
It doesn’t always happen, but I try to wake up at 5/5:30am. In the winter it was more like 6am because the dark, cold mornings were a bit much for me, ha. Getting back into the 5/5:30 routine now that it is getting warmer.
Lately I have LOVED doing online Barre classes from Sweat App. I usually do a barre class 3-4 times a week and then fill the other days with a combination of cardio and weights! For cardio I run here and there but mostly do cycling. I use a trainer with my road bike and use the Zwift app for the virtual rides. Some influencers I love to follow and love doing their workouts are Whitney Simmons, Cara Loren and Kelsey Wells.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE WORKOUT SHOES?
I wear APLs for everything! They have so many color options and are super comfortable.
MOST USED ITEM IN YOUR HOME GYM SETUP?
I absolutely love these Gathre yoga mats – super high quality and gorgeous colors. We store them with this wall mount. I also love our free weights – if you don’t want to order them online, you can usually find free weight sets on Craigslist or if you have a home gym store nearby. They are a great investment because you can usually sell them for close to what you bought them for. I also love these resistance bands and this ab dolly
WHEN DID YOU START GETTING INTO FITNESS?
I did a weight lifting class for my elective class in junior high. I was the only girl in the class but I loved weight lifting right away and learned a lot in that class. Since then I have loved going to the gym. I had a period after I had Rosie and we were living in New York City where I was the most out of shape I had ever been… I couldn’t even do a single sit up when I was laying flat because my abs were so weak. I got a personal trainer while in NYC and it was night and day. I know they are expensive but even if you can get one for a few months to just learn some new moves and good form that are good for your body and what you enjoy – it is so worth it. I still to this day do so many of the moves she had taught me and now I feel like I can put together a workout on my own super easily because I still remember a lot of her workouts.
FAVORITE PLACE TO BUY ACTIVEWEAR?
ANY TIPS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR CORE?
My trainer taught me these one legged bridges and had me do them before EVERY work out. Like I said, I couldn’t do a single sit up and by the end I had the strongest abs I have ever had. Not just because of the bridges but that for sure was an essential building block for me and something I did consistently. I have a video of these in my highlighted IG story “workout”.
DO YOU DO ANY CARDIO? WHAT TYPE?
At the moment yes I do cardio about 3x/week – I cycle (see above) and do interval training for runs.
ANY FITNESS ADVICE?
Be consistent and you will reach a point where you CRAVE working out. You will be SO excited to wake up and work out if you put in the work to be consistent, like truly consistent. I also recommend doing it first thing in the morning.. for me it is so much harder to work out in the evening because as soon as the kids are asleep I just want to chill.
WHAT DO YOU EAT IN A DAY?
I am just eating whatever I want but trying for the most part to not eat late at night. I have done keto a handful of times in the past.. for me keto is a great reset when I start to get back into bad habits. By bad habits I mean eating late at night, eating conveniently instead of thoughtfully, and overall not feeling great or eating food that will help me FEEL healthy. Mostly I just try to eat thoughtfully and listen to what my body really wants .. like if I am craving sweets I will try fruit first or a smoothie. Almost always that gets rid of the craving and helps me feel good too. Or if I am feeling really hungry at night before bed I will try drinking a glass of water first. Often my body really wants the healthy alternative… but if I don’t stop to try to think about it I will go to whatever is convenient and fun – quick bowl of cereal before bed etc. when really my body was just saying it didn’t get enough water.
