One Minute Knotted Half Up

Hair March 8, 2016

I have teamed up with Lauren Conrad Blog again to share another hairstyle how to! This one is great because it seriously takes 1 minute to do. Then you can add curls if you want or leave it straight/wavy! I love easy quick hairstyles I can do when my front pieces arent curled or done - getting the front pieces out of the way always makes hair look more put together. My hair went wild during pregnancy and also after - I feel like I have bald spots in front now when I pull my hair straight back and the hair is starting to grow in so its like short little hairs growing back in. I honestly didn't even realize I had those bald spots until I pulled my hair in a bun to get in the bath with Atticus the other day! Anyways, I am trying to take extra good care of my hair and got some new products that hopefully help. I am going to keep using them for a bit and I will let you know which I end up liking best. BUT until then hairstyles like this one are going to be on repeat. Here are the steps:

  1. Tease the base and smooth it out (if you want to have extra volume)
  2. Take two sections from the front of your hair - the bigger the section the bigger the knot in back will be and the more bobby pins you will need.
  3. Pull the two sections to the back of your head and tie a knot. Hold the knot in place and pin it til it is secure.
Hope you all have a good day!

I can not believe how beautiful your hair are. In addition, the way you tie your hair … so simple and at the same time giving the effect.

Super cute hairstyle. My hair is falling out like crazy since I recently had a baby. I feel like my hair is thinning on the top. So is it best to avoid pulling it back or putting it up? I look forward towards hearing about the products you like best …. I’m nervous my hair will just keep falling out :/

Amber how do you normally style your hair with post partum hair loss and incoming baby hairs? My kids are the same ages as yours and I’m having the same issue (again) with hair loss, and then new baby hairs will grow in and be all wonky around my hairline. I don’t even know how to part my hair now to try to hide it! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. (And my hair is the same length and texture as yours, and I do lots of braids too but I can’t seem to cover it up like you can.)

    Reply
    1. amber on March 9, 2016

Depending on where the hair loss is, I just try and style around it and pin pieces back where I need to. I don’t typically leave it all down, I either braid it back or pull it half back like this 🙂 And around the hairline is hard!! I do my best to tuck those baby pieces in and use hairspray. I rely on my hair extensions too!!

  44. jillian on March 8, 2016

I also love hair styles that are quick and easy. This one is so cute, and a great go-to! I’ve been trying to thicken my braids by pulling them apart like you do-but I’m feeling like my hair is slightly on the short side so it looks kind of mess (which sometimes looks cute I guess). What is your fav product to spray in your hair before you do a braid that you want to last you all day? Also, what’s that bright pink polish you always wear on vacation? I’m obsessed with it. xoxo

I am so happy you liked it!! Thanks so much! And oh good!! I am glad you are trying them out! I bet it looks cute messy like that 🙂 And I love to use some sort of texturizing spray before (Oribe has a good one) and Moroccan Oil hairspray afterwards (it is so light and holds great). And I always get my nails done at the salon and just grab a color, so I don’t know what it is 🙁 But I love Essie and OPI brands!! xo
