Lifestyle October 29, 2015When Atticus was first born we spent the first months doing an excess amount of snuggling in bed and lots of naps together. David sometimes jokes that I am like George Costanza on Seinfeld because in one episode he says “sometimes it’s the only thing getting me out of bed in the morning” ............ I love my naps. They are the best things in the world! Soo we got a new mattress recently and I am so excited about it because it is so soft and comfy! It is a Leesa mattress. They are an online exclusive company that lets you order online and have it delivered with free shipping, in a box to your doorstep. (because hi what’s more annoying than asking to borrow a friend’s truck and lugging home a mattress) so it’s extremely convenient! We have a cal king bed and it came all rolled up in that box you see above. We unrolled the mattress and watched it expand and then Atticus was so excited he went nuts running all over the mattress laughing. I’m moving to NYC in a few weeks and thinking of buying a new bed instead of lugging my current one up a few flights of stairs! I looked on the site and didn’t see an option for firmness. On a scale 1 – 10 (firmest) where would you say it falls….espicially now that you’ve had it awhile.
Hi Ashley!! That is a good idea!! It was so nice having it shipped right to our door! And I would say it is maybe a 7 on firmness. It felt like a big difference at first but now that we are adjusted we LOVE it 🙂

Hi Amber. I have a sneaking suspicion you might be in the hospital right now but if you’re not and you have a second to answer I’d be very grateful. If you are, sending tonnes of luck and pain free vibes your way! Your son and dog are the cutest combo I’ve ever seen- but do you ever worry about Chauncey snapping at Atticus if he’s not feeling all the attention? I have a cheeky spaniel whom we adore and have JUST found out we are expecting but our fur baby is a huge fan of kiddos. Don’t get me wrong, he has never approached a child or behaved aggressively around them in any way, but he will hide and avoid them as much as possible. It is making me pretty anxious knowing he’ll have nowhere to hide sometime soon! How did you approach introducing baby to pup and has Chauncey always been a big softy around him?
Hi Rianna!! I am not in the hospital yet 🙂 Hopefully very soon!! And as far as Chauncey, he is a very patient and loving dog. But of course we pay attention to Atticus closely when he is playing with him. I love their relationship together and we are blessed that Chauncey is SO good with him. But when Atticus was first born, Chauncey totally ignored him for the first little bit and then he slowly warmed up to him. So I would definitely give it a try and go from there! I hope this helps!! I am so confused about this mattress?! It comes in a box and rolls up? Seems very futuristic. I wish you posted this a few weeks earlier, I JUST ordered a new mattress, it actually comes on monday! We had a cal king and i ordered an eastern king bed. I figured the mattress would still fit, nope! So right now i have a GORGEOUS restoration hardware (major splurge) head board with a mattress on the floor haha.

Okay so it ships to your door in a big box (pictured above) and inside the box is the mattress rolled up (air compressed). And then you open it and place it on your bed and cut off the plastic wrap and it will rise! Super cool and easy!! Hope that makes sense?! And ahh dang!! I hate when that kind of stuff happens!! I bet it’s a gorgeous head board too!

Such impeccable timing with this post – I was just talking last night with my husband about how I’m unhappy with our mattress. I’ve started sleeping on my stomach (which I never have done in the past) because it’s the only way my back is comfortable. Agreed a cal king was a game changer for my hubs haha! He sleeps with like 90 pillows and has his arms sprawled out above his head so we definitely need one over here! And agreed the convenience is sooo great!

I have a size small! It comes oversized but it is kind of creeping on belly sweatshirt territory now that I am so far along haha so if you are worried I would get a medium and have it be a little more oversized! I always prefer more oversized than not and kind of wish I had gotten a medium! xo

I’m sorry but there is no way that is a california king bed. That looks like a full or a queen.
I hate to admit it, but I was thinking the same thing. I have a California King bed & the mattress alone is 72×84″. Four people can lay on it & actually not touch each other. My bed dwarfs the full size double windows in my bedroom…
Maybe Amber’s bed just looks smaller because of the camera angle?

Just went back to the new bedroom furniture post from last week. The bed frame from High Fashion Home does not come in a California King. ??? I’m confused…
Yes that is right, we had to have it specially made for a cal king which High Fashion Home offers to do for any frame if it doesn’t come in the size you need! xo

Haha I had to chuckle at these comments! If I were embarrassed for some reason about the size of our bed I wouldn’t mention the size at all but certainly wouldn’t lie about the size of our bed! I actually always joke how silly it is that we have a cal king in nyc because our room is so small a queen would make more sense! But my husband is 6’4″ and loves the length of the cal king.

I always find it odd that people use their height over 6′ as the reason for a Cal King… My husband is 6’1 and we sleep on a queen, because a Cal King would be too big for our bedroom… there’s only a 4″ difference in length between a Queen/King and a Cal King….a Queen/King being 6’8″ long already, already long enough for someone 6’4. But anyway, the mattress may be a Cal King per the screenshot, doesn’t mean it wasn’t altered/angles used to make it look like it fits the bed… just saying.
Tori, you find it funny people use their height as the reason to have a Cal. King? That is who it is geared for. My husband is 6’2″ and we love our Cal King, it is also narrower than a standard King, FYI
Amber, how did you get your bed frame in a California King?
It was a longer process but we had to special order a frame in a cal king! Its from High Fashion Home and if you want the same in a Cal King just call them, they can special make them in a cal king or king if they don’t have it listed on the frame you want! xo
I’m glad this made you laugh because I was laughing to myself reading these comments, like why would you lie about you bed size? so random! and you totally do not have to justify why you have a Cal king, you guys want a cal king you can have a freaking cal king, it’s stupid people would even question these kind of things!
I always get so annoyed on your behalf when you feel like you have to justify your posts (whether its people criticizing your parenting or something as silly as the size of your bed.) Anyone who is a true follower of you and your blog know by now that you don’t need to make things up. . People need to remember that camera’s don’t justify the real life object/scene. It captures a giant scene and smushes it into a little picture.
