The other day I got some disappointing news from my job. It made me feel angry, sad and upset. Worst of all I got the news in the morning which made for a crappy rest of the day. On the bright side, it made me realize several things about myself and inspired me to write this post, someone say #winning! I'm sure we can all agree that sometimes we just have crappy days. Maybe someone said something that offended you, maybe you got in an argument with a loved one, you didn't get enough sleep and just woke up mad (it's happened to me!), or that person that cut you off on your way to work while you were already running late got the best of you.

The other day I got some disappointing news from my job. It made me feel angry, sad and upset. Worst of all, I got the news in the morning which made for a crappy rest of the day. On the bright side, it made me realize several things about myself and inspired me to write this post, someone say #winning!
I’m sure we can all agree that sometimes we just have crappy days. Maybe someone said something that offended you, maybe you got in an argument with a loved one, you didn’t get enough sleep and just woke up mad (it’s happened to me!), or that person that cut you off on your way to work while you were already running late got the best of you.
Just that one hour conversation at work could have consumed the next 13 hours of my life but I didn’t let it and I’m not going to let you do the same. Here are some tips on turning that frown upside down and getting your joy back.
1. Silence – It’s so important to gather your thoughts when you’re going through an emotional roller coaster. You never want to lash out to anyone while emotional and without thinking things through. Take a moment to sit in silence whether it’s in your car, office or closet. Just breathe and think about how you’re feeling and be honest with yourself.
2. Vent – After you’ve gathered your thoughts and had some peace, call a friend or speak someone. Don’t gossip, just vent-tell that person how you feel. Fortunately for me I was able to talk to a friend from work that works in a different department. It was so nice to speak to someone who understood me but that wasn’t directly involved since we work in different areas.
3. Watch a show – Not just any show though! Make sure it’s something that makes you feel good and happy without too much drama. I’m really into the “New Girl” series right now so during my lunch break I watched a show, laughed a little and had forgotten (for a moment) what had happened. If you’re not into watching tv, find something to distract yourself like reading a book.
4. Be thankful – recently I’ve been learning about mindfulness and one thing it has reminded me to do is to be thankful. That day, as I was walking to another building for a meeting, I just started giving thanks. Thankful for my health, for the beautiful day it was outside, and for the heat of the sun. Being thankful for the larger, significant things made my situation much smaller and not so significant.
5. Release – Later that day I went to the gym, put on my headphones and worked my butt off! Whatever you’re outlet might be (walking, running, singing, or dancing) release any tension you may be feeling and let it all go in that one activity.
6. Remember your worth – You were created by the creator of the universe, and you were fearfully and wonderfully made. Don’t let anyone decrease your value and take your joy by thinking anything less of yourself.
7. There are no bad days – Say what!? I bet you’re thinking “You really didn’t just write this entire post just to say that there are no bad days did you? Haha, well the reality is that if you change your mindset and take these steps-those crappy days can diminish to a just a crappy moment and you can take back your life.

7 Ways To Be A More Patient Parent
I remember the exact day when I realized I needed to find a way to be more patient. My daughter was almost two and was going through a phase where she wanted to be held all the time. I went into the kitchen to try to get the dishes done and she followed me crying then clung to my leg screaming because I wasn’t holding her. I felt my anger boiling up and I was unable to push it down. I yelled, which made things worse, and ended up sinking to my kitchen floor in tears feeling completely overwhelmed by guilt.After, I picked myself up and held my daughter tight.
