When I was younger I sucked my thumb til I was about 8 years old or so.. I mean it was old enough where I remember being in school and the teacher turning the lights off to watch a movie and I would get so excited because I could suck my thumb without anyone seeing. So yeah, pretty old. My parents tried evvverything to get me to stop and I found away around all of it. Finally they bribed me and said they would buy me a mini tv if I stopped. That was all it took and I stopped right away and got my little tv. And by little I mean the screen was tiny but the box itself was huge and long haha. I kept it in mine and my sister’s “clubhouse” which was a little miniature attic above my parents closet. It wasn’t very big – maybe like 5 feet by 5 feet but we colored on the walls, decorated it with pillows and blankets and it was the ultimate hang out spot. I thought it was the coolest EVER.
At the time Legally Blonde had just come out and I was obsessed to say the least. I couldn’t wait to get home from school to go up to the clubhouse and watch the movie again and again and again. I loved Elle Woods SO much. She was my earliest “idol” that I can remember. I recently rewatched Legally Blonde after having not watched it since I was way younger. I half expected to cringe at most parts and see that it hadn’t aged well.. BUT while it could still use way more diversity and definitely has it’s flaws I actually love that I looked up to Elle Woods at that moldable age. She is literally everything I wanted to be in life – nice, stuck up for people, stuck up for herself, tried new things, proved people wrong, loyal, remained true to herself, had confidence, etc… I mean I know it sounds cheesy but I was watching it thinking WOW I ACTUALLY THINK SHE INFLUENCED MY LIFE SO MUCH and I am so happy they portrayed her in the way that they did – a nice, strong girl who remains true to herself because I think all of us who watched that growing up didn’t have a lot of media portrayals of nice girls. Also just really love Reece Witherspoon soooo much and have loved watching her continue to crush it in her career at every stage of life.
That is all. I just am re-obsessed with Elle Woods.
