The other week we decided to go explore Central Park and see Bow Bridge! It was all fun and games and smiles until we had got Atticus squared away in his sleeping bag in the stroller and were headed home and Atticus sort of had a freak out along the way! He doesn't have them often but he wouldn't stop crying no matter what we did and I knew he wouldn't stop until I breastfed him but it was sooo cold out and we were still a hefty amount of blocks away so we power walked to Shake Shack. When we arrived there was of course a line to get a table (which I didn't think about) and David was outside with Chauncey while Atticus was still crying which was kind of causing a scene.. so I was pretty stressed.. A mom sitting at a table with two girls could tell I was flustered and said she was leaving and gave me her seat which was so nice of her because I don't think they were actually ready to leave quite yet. As much "mom shaming" as I have experienced on social media and out and about NYC, I love meeting moms who just get it and want to help anyone in the same boat. Anyone who I meet that has a baby even around the same age as Atticus I instantly want to be best friends with them! I wish all moms would just help each other out and judge less. That is my ideal world :) I am still mentally thanking that mom who gave us her seat!
On another note, I just filmed a tutorial for this hair style which I am excited to share (once I finally get a sec to edit it!) it is how to "fake" a crown and/or milkmaid braid - because lets be honest, crown braids are HARD and my arms can never stay up for that long and milkmaid braids sometimes look funky haha so this is a good alternative.
I got these Illest Eva sunglasses recently and David and I both love them! I don't have any white sunglasses and I had got them for a beach vacation coming up but thought they went with my outfit that day. I sort of have a sunglass obsession and recently lost a pair (my favorite pair, RIP) of Karen Walker sunglasses and I was so bummed about it I told myself I wasn't going to buy another pair until I wore all the ones I already have at least twice. Then I bought these not even realizing it - I HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!

I absolutely love your blog and your instagram! I definitely have hair envy! Haha I just wanted to say how much I agree with you about mom’s needing to stick together and stop jugging each other! My son is four months old tomorrow and it’s nuts to see how much other mom’s judge one another! I never realized it until having my baby boy. I’ve gotta ask what are some of Atticus’ favourite toys? I’m always looking for advice on fun toys for babies! 🙂
Ugh it makes me so sad to read about you having a hard time with other moms telling you you are doing something wrong ! I watch Atticus on snap chat and trust me he seems like the happiest most loved baby I have ever seen! It makes me even want to be a better mom to my own kids ! So don’t worry Amber you are an amazing mother don’t let anyone get to you ! You deserve all the love !

That story about mom shaming makes me so sad. I don’t have kids, but I can only imagine how hard it is, especially being a first time mother. Aren’t women supposed to support each other, not tear each other down? That lady that gave up her seat warms my heart!
and I totally know how you feel about losing your favourite sunglasses. I recently lost my favourite pair of Michael Kors sunglasses, but I’m still convincing myself that they are somewhere buried in my room. My Target sunglasses will do for now!

I love your faux milkmaid braid! It’s such a pretty updo especially with the wispy face-framing tendrils! my shopping obsession usually revolves around clothes, but it has just recently expanded to encompass accessories too! I’m all about sun protection, but it’s so hard for me to find sunglasses that compliment my face shape, and I can’t get over how it takes the makeup off the bridge of my nose….hmmm it’s a love hate relationship!

Anything that has to do with new mommies, I cry! I have a 5 month old son, Gael and a 2.5 year old daughter, Penelope. I love the knowing look other moms give. The supportive look of, I too know what it feels like when you are on your way into a store and your child decides to throw a fit in the middle of the street. but basically i am nervous for when that happens to me! like, my baby doesn’t stop crying. we babysat my niece and she seriously cried for so long and wouldn’t stop we had to have her parents come get her, haha! everyone says it’s different when it’s your own baby, but i hear stories from friends where they’re like, “_____ wouldn’t stop crying so” and it makes me nervous haha!
you’re lucky you moved to nyc though, because if you were in utah probably no one would have even batted and eye, because they would all be busy with their 7 kids! haha!
