Big Girl Room

Fashion June 28, 2016

Remember how I had Atticus sleeping through the night by two months and thought I was super mom? I was like.. oh yeah this mom thing? Such a cinch! Lol. Rosie started sleeping through the night pretty early on and then had sleep regression and took a few months to go back to normal! It was pretty horrible and she would wake up every couple hours all night long for a few months. During that time period we realized she needed to be in her own room because with her sleeping right next to me I would jump out of bed if I even heard her stir. It took me about 6 months to be okay with Atticus in his own room and same for Rosie! It just comforts me having them right next to me so I can wake up and hear them breathing and see them. But it was making me an actual crazy person with all the sleep I was missing so it was definitely TIME. Anyways, when we decided to put her in her own room the first couple nights I was still waking up going to check on her and we realized that defeats the purpose so we got her an Owlet monitor. My brother in law and sis in law got one for their little boy who was born early and one night it went off and said his oxygen was low. They took him to the hospital and he ended up needing to stay there for a bit. It is nice for us knowing the Owlet was there for them when they needed it most. Anyways, since then I had been meaning to get one for peace of mind since I am such a worrier and with the transition into Ro’s own room it has made the last month so much better. The Owlet sock monitors your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels while they sleep and is an extra set of eyes on your little one. Owlet’s technology is designed to alert you on your smartphone and the Owlet Base Station. You can learn more about it, here! PLUS, we love our Owlet so much and want to make sure everyone can experience the peace of mind it brings—so you can get $20 off your Owlet just by clicking here. Happy sleeping mamas! xo Thanks to Owlet for sponsoring this post

Hey Amber, hope you are having a good day! My second is similar age to Rosie I think, she turns 6 months today and she is waking loads in the night, I feel I have made a rod for my own back because when she was sleeping in our room as soon as she stirred I would leap up and pop a dummy in when she wasn’t even really crying. Now she is sleeping in with her sister (2yr) and is waking lots, if I go and put her dummy in she will instantly settle. The thing is sometimes she will settle for another hour and other times 10 minutes until I get up and go and put the dummy in again! Your thoughts?? think I should let her cry it out a bit to see if she settles herself? Sending you love from the other side of the world! x

The owlet sounds like a great idea for peace of mind. We used the SnuzaHero which was such a godsend – it went off a couple of times when nothing was wrong as it had slipped, but I’d rather a false alarm than a missed emergency any day. Our second little one is due in October though, so will check out the Owlet too – you can never have too many safety gadgets in my opinion! x

And I wouldn’t feel bad about keeping rosie in your room. Here in the UK we’re advised to keep them in our room until they are at least 6 months old! Not sure if it’s the same in the US.

Oh my gosh being a parent must be so scary! I mean, it’ll also be amazing obviously but I’m already protective over my college-aged sister. I can’t even begin to imagine how protective I’ll feel over my own little ones when the day comes. I’m going to have to get an Owlet too!!!

Oh gosh, I would love one of these! I am that crazy Mama too who always wakes up and checks on Ada, even when she’s sleeping soundly next to me. She turned six months a week ago now so I’m contemplating when I should put her in her own room. She’s a pretty good sleeper now and I think she’d probably sleep even better in there, but I just don’t know if I’m ready yet!

I saw this last year and was thinking about getting it! Then I got a monitor that has zero radiation and camera and haven’t used it…primarily because right now I do feel like sleep mummy and my son Chance has been sleeping through the night since the beginning! Except he wakes me every few hours for a feed and my husband thinks it’s time to send him to his room which we did up nicely here http://www.whiitelist.com/2016/06/eames-3-minimalist-nursing-chairs.html?m=1 but I’m still not comfortable, this might make me feel better! Most probably best to send him to his room as he’s nearly 7 months! Ha! X
