10 Books to Teach Kids About Nature
Contributors July 24, 2018We LOVE books in our home. One of my favorite things to do is hunt down new children's books for my daughter and I to enjoy together. Now that spring has sprung and summer is around the corner, I have been collecting books that teach her all about nature. Teaching kids about nature has many developmental benefits and increases their concern for the environment. It has always been very important to me to help my daughter establish a connection to nature and I'm so happy to see how eager she to learn about the beautiful world around her. Finding interesting nature books is a great way to achieve this and these books have also taught me so much along the way as well. These books are enjoyable for both adults and kids! Here are our favorite books nature books from anatomy to fairytales, that help her learn about and connect to nature.

Finding interesting books about nature is a great way to achieve this and these books have also taught me so much along the way as well. These books are enjoyable for both adults and kids! Here are our favorite books nature books from anatomy to fairytales, that help her learn about and connect to nature.

Nature Anatomy : The Curious Parts & Pieces of the Natural World
By Julia Rothman
This is our favorite. This book is full of gorgeous artistic illustrations and encourages curiosity about nature. It has fun facts about the environment and teaches in an exciting way. I bring it out on our outdoor adventures and we use it to identify various aspects of nature that my daughter finds intriguing.

How to Be a Wildflower: A Field Guide
By Katie Daisy
This book has the most beautiful illustrations I have seen in a book. When I first looked through it, I found myself totally lost in the magic and wonder of it all. It inspires it’s readers to go outside and see the world in a new way and establish a deep connection to nature. It is completely enchanting.

Botanicum : Welcome to the Museum
By Kathy Willis
A beautiful and elegant guide to plant life. This book teaches you everything about botany and has very interesting illustrations including really cool cross-sections of plants to show children a deeper look into plant life.

Outside Your Window: A First Book of Nature
By Nicola Davies
Poetry, vibrant illustrations, and interesting facts make this book an amazing read for kids. It walks you through all of the seasons and each page is straight out of a fairy-tale. It is long so you can keep reading it in different sittings. The simple and educational poetry is an effective way of communicating with children.

An intriguing book about seasonal changes in nature. It teaches children about the various seasons and how nature changes with each season. It is easy to understand and the illustrations are fun for kids!

This is a fantastic bedtime book that is full of soothing poems that teach of mindfulness and connecting to nature. The words are lyrical and very calming, focusing on meditation and love of nature.

5 Summer Activities for Kids
Spring at last! For us, winters are long, cold, and dark so when the clouds finally part and the sun begins to warm the earth I get very excited. Well, it is finally warm enough to spend some time outside now so I have been researching outdoor activities to do with kids like crazy!
